“Nature always wears the colors of the spirit.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Standing at the edge of Waimea Canyon on a trip not so long ago, the landscape didn’t look real…more like a “soulscape” perhaps…wearing the colors of the spirit indeed.
And then, a remembering….
EVERYTHING is nature, even the skyscrapers in this beautiful city of mine. It all comes from earth…the metal, the glass, even the plastic…molded into shapes by the hands of people who come from the earth as well….
We ARE nature. Everything is earth.
It can be easy to see the beauty in things untouched by human hands, but in order to see them, they must be seen through human eyes.
So what if nothing is untouched after all?
And what if we can find the same vast beauty in the constructed or mundane, until it quickly becomes apparent, it’s not mundane at all, but a work of art?
All of it.
I believe the colors of the spirit are in the eye of the beholder indeed, and can change into a new palette any moment, in the blink of an eye.
So today, on this Earth Day, what if you moved forward with the curiosity and intention to notice the colors in your life and world with a new lens?
One that resets with each blink, refreshed into each moment as a new landscape to behold.
The possibilities are infinite, and wherever you are, may you see the beauty of this world, both around you and within.
